Spodee Wine

When United States was in the midst of the Great Depression, there was little that could make Americans feel better than a tall glass of hooch. Originally, this combination liqueur was a mixture of homemade country wines, local herbs, spices, moonshine and whatever else was laying around, and it was known by the name “Spodee”, a.k.a, wine with a kick.  Which brings us to present day.  The current Spodee from White Mule Farms hasn’t changed much since the original – it’s packaged in a corked milk bottle and can best be described as a strong fruity flavored wine with undertones of cocoa.  The benefit to modern day Spodee, however, is that you don’t have to worry about where it’s been crafted or the blindness that unbalanced moonshine has been known to cause.  Drink it straight or mix it up; either way there’s no better way to revel in the joys of a bygone era.
