If you think monstrous 4K flat screens are the wave of the future, you’re right. But that hasn’t stopped Sony from taking a more minimalistic approach to your future viewing experience. They’ve just unveiled the Sony 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector ($20K – $30K) – an alternative to flatscreen televisions that’s more furniture than it is tech. It’s a completely self-contained entertainment unit, noting a center projector flanked on each side by speakers and enclosed cabinets for your A/V equipment. Simply place it next to a wall, and you have an instant 4096 x 2160 x 3 pixel display from 66″ to 147″. The entire unit is crafted in a handsome aluminum design; it’s powered by a laser light display that’s significantly brighter and more color accurate than traditional projector lamps; and the projector’s cover opens and closes automatically when powered on/off. If this isn’t lust inducing, I don’t know what is.
