Shimano, a brand widely known for their cycling and fishing gear, is stepping into the sport camera market with their aptly named Shimano Sport Camera ($300). On paper, its specs are impressive, with a f/2.0 lens and a 16 mp CMOS image sensor delivering great looking 1080p HD video in your choice of 135 degrees or a super wide 180 degrees. Where the Shimano Sport Camera really shines, however is in its connectivity. In addition to built-in WiFi, which allows you to pair the Sport Camera with your iOS or Android smartphone apps to see a live view and make camera setting adjustments, the Sport Camera is also compatible with the ANT wireless protocol, meaning you can connect Shimano’s new D-Fly wireless Di2 transmitter to sync your video with corresponding bike and fitness monitor info (heart rate, gear selection, cadence, etc.). For avid cyclists, it’s a combo that will take your training to a whole new level.
