At first glance this handsome table may appear as though it’s constructed from a series of well-placed solid wood cubes, each of which have been placed equidistantly from one another to create a beautiful wooden matrix.  And it is, with one exception.  Each of the blocks you see making up RockPaperRobot’s Float Table are actually magnetized, with the blocks using physics to repel one another.  The result:  a table that actually floats, held together by a system of tensile steel cables.  It’s available in a variety of wood colors, including the lacquered crotch walnut you see above; it comes in two standard sizes (38″ x 18.5″ x 18.5″ and 18.5″ x 18.5″ x 18.5″), with other sizes available upon request; and it may be the coolest table I’ve ever seen.

Price: $2,000+
