McLaren is adding a new mid-range model to their lineup in the form of the McLaren 650S ($TBA). Virtually identical to the McLaren 12C in terms of styling, there is one key difference: up front, the fascia is borrowed from the P1. Under the hood, the McLaren 650S is sporting a 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine producing 650 hp (478 kW), while new door blades behind the front wheels help the 650S generate 24 percent more downforce at 150 mph than the McLaren 12C. There’s still no official performance figures from McLaren on the 650S, but it will be faster than the 12C, meaning it will likely do battle with the Ferrari 458 Speciale. Look for both coupe and spider McLaren 650S variants to hit this spring.
