Inspired by the board track racing motorcycles from the early 1900’s, L.A. based Derringer Cycles has created the Derringer Electric Bike ($3,500 – $6,500), a modern electric reinterpretation of the classic bikes that looks pretty damn cool.  Available in three models – the Heritage Series ($3,500), the Signature Series ($4,500) and the Bespoke Series ($6,500) – each bike sports a custom hand-built chromoly construction frame along with a total operating range varying between 22 and 38 miles and a top speed from 20 – 40 mph (which varies based on model).  All bikes are powered by a high torque brushless hub motor built into the rear wheel, while stopping power is provided by Magura hydraulic disk brakes.  There’s also an onboard computer to display data including speed, distance, battery info, power, net energy, and more.  Learn more about the project at the Derringer Cycles website.
