The Atom 3.5R is powered by an uprated 350bhp 2.0-litre turbo sourced from Honda Civic Type-R, that in the more standard Ariel Atom produces 310bhp. Additional 40bhp were possible thanks to increased boost from 7.5 to 11 psi and a new custom sidepod-mounted intercooler. Other updates include adjustable limited-slip differential, Öhlins springs, TTX adjustable dampers and four-piston calipers fitted onto vented discs.
And while you may be thinking 350bhp is not a lot, in a car that weighs just 550kg, it is plenty with 0-60mph taking just 2.5 seconds and 0-100mph in 6.0 seconds. That’s supercar territory already. This ultimate open top track toy is priced at 135k. Not cheap, but when you compare it to other supercars that go from 0-60mph in less than 3.0 seconds it sounds like a real bargain.
