Peugeot’s new 2008 DKR – the car the French carmaker plans to race in the 2015 Dakar Rally. The Peugeot 2008 DKR is going to be driven in the 2015 Dakar Rally by Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres. The 2015 Peugeot Dakar Rally car is sponsored by Red Bull and Total and it’s based on the carmaker latest crossover. The 2008 DKR has been developed by Peugeot’s Style Centre and by the Peugeot Sport Design Department. The new Peugeot Dakar Rally car (2015) comes with an aggressive stance, big, chunky wheels and countless modifications, required by the tough condition of this particular race. Interestingly, the 2015 Peugeot Dakar Rally car is not four-wheel-drive as most of you would expect. Instead, Peugeot went for a two-wheel-drive transmission. They claim the car runs better on sand this way. Peugeot says that the two-wheel-drive system allowed them to fit the 2015 Dakar Rally racer with bigger wheels and a suspension system with more travel. The 2015 Peugeot Dakar Rally Car is equipped with 37-inch Michelin tires (almost 94cm).
The 2015 Peugeot Dakar Rally Car comes with a high approach angle, and very short overhangs. Unfortunately, Peugeot did not disclose any details regarding the engine of the new 2008 Dakkar Rally Car.
